David Seidman has been professionally illustrating since graduating in 2001 from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His work has been selected into prestigious SPECTRUM books, been displayed nationwide, and has been published around the world. Currently, David lives in Philadelphia with his wife and muse, Celeste Giuliano.
Amazing news today! Coheed and Cambria just announced the release of a limited edition 7" picture disc for the single "Guns of Summer" featuring my artwork on the vinyl! I have always been a fan of vinyl, so to finally have my work printed on one is amazing. They are only available at Vintage Vinyl and are very limited. Hopefully this is just the first of many!
I have been waiting a while to announce this and now that it is official, here goes... Zenescope Entertainment is bringing the Charmed witches back for all new adventures in a new comic book based off of the long running TV show. Luckily for me, I get to do the covers! I have already started working on a few (including issue #1 seen here) and it has been a blast coming up with new concepts and bringing Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowen's characters back to life.
Issue #0 and #1 are due out June 2010 from Zenescope Entertainment.
The Pinocchio Collected Edition was scheduled to come out well before the holidays, but in a weird twist of fate, it was delayed and now it just so happens to hit comic book shelves on my birthday (Jan. 20th). Alice in Wonderland is one of the most beloved children's books of all time. The imagination of Lewis Carroll's strange world has inspired generations of writers and illustrators. So it is no surprise that working on a updated Mad Hatter character really got me excited. Zenescope Entertainment has taken this classic tale and put a modern and very horrific (in a good way) twist to it. If anyone hasn't read these books yet, I suggest you go discover wonderland all over again. My illustration is for the cover of the one-shot story of the Mad Hatter. As you can see, this hatter is a little different than what you grew up with! TALES FROM WONDERLAND: MAD HATTER is in comic stores 10-28-09. Last year I co-wrote and illustrated a dark version of the classic Pinocchio story for Zenescope Entertainment's Grimm Fairy Tales line. Needless to say it was an amazing experience writing my first comic, reinventing these characters and letting my imagination run wild with the interior artwork.
Now, Zenescope plans to rerelease the 2-part miniseries as one collected edition. It will also include a few extra behind-the-scene bonuses as well!

Wow, I cannot tell you how much fun I had illustrating this cover for Zenescope's Little Mermaid collection coming out Sept. 23rd. Zenescope is known for taking everyone's beloved fairy tales and turning them into their worst nightmares... this story is no exception. I have wanted to illustrate some sort of woman-octopus for a while now, and when this opportunity presented itself, I couldn't say no.
Wizard World Philly was a blast once again! I love my hometown convention. Its always full of great people that know how to have a good time. The crowds weren't as big this year, but I saw a lot of old faces and met a ton of new ones! Thanks to everyone that came out and showed their support. Here is a picture of a Heath Ledger Joker sketch I did for a fan!
I recently wrapped up this piece for Zenescope Entertainments newest title, SALEM'S DAUGHTER. This was a blast to work on and gave me a great opportunity to try some new techniques in my working process. Look for it on stands this fall!
Free Comic book day is a day where all the comic book stores across the nation have special events in their stores and give away free books. This year I attended FCBD at the Comics and More shop in Plymouth Meeting, PA. I met a lot of cool people, signed a bunch of Pinocchio books and did some sketches for a few people. Thanks to Rob over at Comics and More for a great time!
Well, if anyone ever told me that my artwork would be displayed some 30 feet tall at Madison Square Garden with close to 20,000 people looking on, I wouldn't have believed them. But thanks to Coheed and Cambria, that exact fantasy happened on Feb 5th when they opened up for Slipknot at the Garden with my artwork hanging behind them. This was easily one of the greatest moments of my career and I was flying high as I sat there listening to my favorite band tearing up NYC with my artwork as the backdrop.

Last summer I worked with one of my favorite bands, Coheed and Cambria, on some artwork for their summer tour. Needless to say I was psyched when they contacted me again to work on a new piece for their upcoming tour with Slipknot. They will be starting their tour this month and the artwork I did will be available on their tour shirts and will also be used on the stage banners. This is pretty big news for me! A few months ago I worked on a couple interior pages for a Max Payne prequel graphic novel that is going to be included with the DVD release. Now this isn't any normal graphic novel, this is a special animated graphic novel that is going to be a part of the bonus 2-disc DVD coming out on January 20th.
The greatest part was actually getting to see my images in motion and my characters talking and interacting. A really cool project and well put together by the awesome team over at Comicflix
For those that do not know what Spectrum is, it is a annual book featuring a juried selection of the years best fantasy, sci-fi, horror artwork in everything from comics to editorials. This year I just happen to be juried in with the work I did for Wizards of the Coasts! This is always great news and such an honor. A big thanks to Dawn over at Wizards for hiring me and being a wonderful art director... THANKS!

Okay, before I start I just want to tell everyone I realize how much I suck at updating this. But I promise, this is a new beginning!!
Down to business... A project that has been near and dear to my heart is finally available to the public. Zenescopes widely popular Grimm Fairy Tales comic finally gets my own demented twist in the form of Pinocchio. Issue #31 of the series is on sale now and features not only my artwork, but my story as well. It was a blast to try my hand at writing and I have to say I loved it. So head on out to your local comic shop and pick it up!! I also have to mention that this is a 2-parter!! Look for part 2 to hit stands next month.

This years New York Comic Con was a blast as usual. I was hanging out with the Zenescope crew all weekend long signing copies of Se7en and even doing a few interviews. I also got the chance to meet some really cool people like Seth Green, Bill Hader and a real highlight, Basil Gogos of Famous Monster fame!
Another huge highlight was getting an invite to see Claudio Sanchez of Coheed & Cambria play an acoustic show at the Sloan Fine Art Gallery in NYC. Not only did I get to see a very intimate show, but Clive Barker was having a show there at the time! Amazing! Thanks Blaze for the invite!
As an artist, I listen to music while working. It is essential for my work process and it keeps me going. Coheed and Cambria is one of those bands I listen to religously and that fuel a lot of the inspiration for my work. So needless to say, when I first met Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, I was pretty nervous. I was also pretty excited to show him some of my work.
A couple months later I get a dream job. A piece of artwork for a band that has given me so much inspiration... the circle is complete.
The concept was a mechanical dragonfly that was to be used as banners on their tour. Not only did they use these on an extensive tour throughout the states, but they also made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and on the official tour shirts.
Claudio is a great guy as well as Blaze and Pete at Blacksheep. I had a blast working on this project, and hopefully I get another chance to work with them in the future.
